What is LEED certification?

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an international standard system for sustainable construction projects, developed by the American Society of Architects (USGBC – U.S. Green Building Council).

LEED Gold certificate is nearly the highest certification in the LEED system, including Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. To achieve LEED Gold certification, a construction project must meet strict criteria for air quality, green space, lighting… Projects that get Gold standards have high efficiency in terms of savings: energy, effectively using renewable resources and creating a healthy living and working environment for people.

Criteria and requirements to achieve LEED Gold certification

To achieve LEED Gold certification, projects must go through a verification and review process from the council. Passing the criteria and achieving total points in the categories is from 60 – 79, including CO2 reduction, natural light, energy use, water, health, green space,…

In addition, the project must also meet several requirements regarding geographical location, planning, design and project management. All these criteria together create a high sustainability standard for construction projects.
